GMDVP Client Services GMDVP’s Education Department is committed to raising awareness of gay, bisexual and transgender (GBT) domestic violence in the GBT community, in the service provider community (including the police and courts) and in society-at-large. To accomplish this goal, the Education Department engages in a variety of activities including: · Networking and collaborating with GBT organizations · Presentations to the GBT community · Professional training for service providers · Advertising campaigns · Literature distribution · Bar outreach GMDVP’s primary education goals are to 1) raise awareness among GBT men who may be in abusive relationships, enabling them to self-identify and to seek appropriate services, and 2) raise awareness among service providers to allow them to provide appropriate support and crisis intervention with GBT victims and survivors. *How you can help GMDVP raise awareness * Bring GMDVP to your organization or class for a presentation GMDVP is always looking to connect with new organizations to provide presentations on GBT domestic violence.
