CONTRIBUTORS & SPONSORS
There is no unique profile of a GMDVP contributor. They come in all sizes and shapes.
Some donors give multi-thousand dollar matching gifts and thereby encourage others to give. Some donors give small monthly subscription gifts that add-up over the year. Some donors give one-time gifts through our annual appeal. And others support GMDVP by purchasing tickets to events – and then, when they are at those events, they purchase silent auction items and raffle tickets. There are countless ways to give.
The reasons and motivations for giving are varied as well. Some are survivors and know first hand the importance of support during crisis. Others know what it is like to be denied services due to their sexual orientation and they want to help make sure the next wave of GLBT folks does not face the same discrimination. Some give because GMDVP has proven itself to be a highly efficient and pioneering program that achieves its programmatic goals. Others are simply charmed by the organization’s spirit and sense of humor – who doesn’t want to give money to a drag queen throwing herself into the waves of the freezing Boston Harbor wearing a glittery dress and 5 inch heels?
Who ever they are, whatever amount they give, and for whatever reason – GMDVP could not provide services without their generous contribution. If you are a current or past GMDVP donor, thank you.
